Volunteers required

We are producing a show this summer to be held at Hidcote Manor Gardens in July.  We are looking for members of the community to be involved.  We are not necessarily looking for ‘dancers’, just people who like to move and perform and want to be a part of it.  Please see the below information on the project and do not hesitate to be in touch with any questions you may have.

Stuck in the Mud will be an hour-long ‘experience’ for audiences, artistically led by internationally renowned disabled choreographer Marc Brew, comprising:
-      A number of site-specific dance installations at various points in the venues/gardens
-      A 20 minute professionally performed piece
-      12 dancers (10 ballet trained, 2 disabled contemporary dancers)
-      A cast of c.60 community and/or schools performancers, recruited locally

This performance opportunity will have high media presence and we are working with national strategic partners to give a voice to disabled choreographers producing works of excellence.  Project partners include:  The National Trust, Ballet Cymru, The Roses Theatre and Cheltenham Festivals.

Local performers involved would benefit from high-quality performance leadership, creating relationships with other, local people, working with professional dancers and choreographers, interacting with a local heritage site in a meaningful way and bearing witness to the fact that dance and dancers can come in a variety of shapes, sizes and forms.

On the practical side, we need to meet with the group for an introduction and rehearsal, then the group would need to attend scheduled rehearsals and performances.  There are 8 performances over 4 days.  Your group could be involved in 4, 6 or all 8 performances depending on your capacity.

Production week and performances:
  • Technical/Dress rehearsal - July 2 OR 3
  • Performances July 4, 5, 6, 7:  Shows 6:00 and 8:00

This is a completely free opportunity, but if a group signed up, the organiser would be required to support some of the communications, transport to/from site rehearsals and performances and supervision of young people.

We would very much like to hear from you if this is a project that you would like to get involved with.  Do not hesitate to email or ring with any questions.
