GDance offer movement teachers the chance to learn inclusive tactics

Inclusive training experts GDance have joined forces with Active Gloucestershire to offer an Inclusive Movement Training Course to anyone coaching, teaching or leading sessions of any form of ‘movement’ or physical activity like martial arts, aerobics, dance, physical theatre.

What does ‘inclusive’ mean?
The course will be delivered by an ‘inclusive’ team - one disabled expert and one non-disabled expert - both experienced in delivering practical, effective dance and drama sessions to groups that include learning disabled and physically disabled children and young people. But also they will pass on this experience so that the sessions other leaders deliver will become ‘inclusive’. With support, their sessions can include learning disabled and physically disabled children and young people without anyone feeling left out or left behind.

These leaders are offered guidelines, based on best practice, and an opportunity to discuss strategies and approaches that can be adapted to their own setting.
They are helped to identify appropriate resources and the appropriate language to use in an inclusive setting. Then given the chance to apply what they have learnt through practical tasks and games within a safe and supportive environment.
Finally they will identify opportunities to gain experience (after the course) working directly with disabled children and young people.
GDance and Active Gloucestershire aim for session leaders who complete the course to have gained understanding and develop confidence to go on to deliver safe, inspiring inclusive sessions and work effectively with disabled participants.

When and where will it be?
The course will take place on Thursday 21 November from 10am - 4.30pm and costs £50.00. The venue will be the Oxtalls Tennis Centre on Tewkesbury Road in Gloucester.
