Company Manager Karen Perrins said: 'There is something very special about competing at Cheltenham and something very wonderful about sharing and celebrating each other's work'.
VIA performed a war-based piece, specially choreographed by Karen around the theme "it's curtains". The piece explored different emotions and aspects of war to include the men going off to fight, evacuees, bombing and the futility of the when the war ended and not everyone returned.
One of the props used was a gun belonging to Karen's great grandfather Samuel Richards who fought in World War 1. Karen reported that 'Many in the audience had to wipe a tear from their eye'.
The Cheltenham Competitive Festival adjudicator awarded an almost unprecented 90 marks for what he described as 'an outstanding performance'.
Long-term VIA volunteer Kelly Peattie has added to the company's accolades having been shortlisted for a prestigious Hear of Gloucestershire community award for 'Volunteer Hero'.
Kelly and her Mum Lyn have been invaluable supporters of GDance, and are joining a working party through which we aim to lever in more funds through individual giving. This will safeguard GDance's future at a time when fundraising is extremely challenging.
It will also enable us to keep developing the talents of disabled and non-disabled Gloucestershire dancers through VIA dance company and our many other training initiative.
